This report presents the results from three sets of five-minute bird counts at ten stations at Windy Hill Sanctuary in May 2000, June 2011 and May 2021. The data comprises 10 repeat counts at each of 10 stations.

Monitoring Programme 2023
Monitoring programmes offer insight into population trends and definition of baselines to compare over time. Windy Hill Sanctuary monitors the following flora & fauna within the sanctuary:
- Birds
- Weta
- Lizards
- Invertebrates
- Rats
- Weeds
Location
The Windy Hill Sanctuary is located in the Southwestern corner of Aotea, Great Barrier Island in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.
Encompassing 800 hectares, the sanctuary spans the properties of 18 properties and 58 individual landowners and boasts 276 hectares of QEII covenanted native bush.
